  • Provision of the website / IT security: Processing of server log data (IP address, date/time, requested URL incl. any transferred parameters, referrer, user agent) for the delivery of the page and for defence/fault analysis. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and functional operation).
  • Postcode area search & functions (DE/AT, sorting, filter, export): Processing of the search data you enter (postcode or town, radius, selected country) to provide search results, display on the map and optionally for the local export function (CSV, XLSX, PDF, TXT). The calculation of the results and the creation of the export files take place exclusively in your browser; no personal user profiles are created on our servers for this purpose. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a functional search and planning tool for distance and radius searches).
  • Reach measurement (statistics): Use of Google Analytics only after consent. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
  • Communication: Processing of the data transmitted by you when contacting us by e-mail to process your request. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR.

3. hosting (STRATO)

Our website is hosted by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO automatically processes server log data for the provision and security of the website (see above). Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. Further information: https://www.strato.de/datenschutz/.

4. cookies, consent management (compliance) & cookie policy

We use the consent management tool Compliance, to obtain and document your consent to the use of cookies/analysis services. No analysis cookies will be set without your consent. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR (obligation to provide evidence) and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (consent). You can change your selection at any time via the cookie notice linked in the footer.

5. web analysis with Google Analytics (GA4) + IP anonymisation

This website uses Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) for statistical reach measurement. Google Analytics is only with your consent loaded. GA4 uses cookies and similar technologies. Your IP address is truncated within the EU/EEA (IP anonymisation). The data processing is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time via the cookie banner.

Transfers to Google LLC in the USA may take place. The basis for this is the EU-US data protection framework (if applicable) and/or the standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). Data retention settings (e.g. 14 months) are active. No user IDs or other personal profiles are stored.

6. google consent mode (Consent Mode)

We use the Google Consent Mode, to adapt the behaviour of Google tags to your consent. Without consent, only anonymised, aggregated measurement values are processed without cookies. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.

7. postcode area search (DE/AT), sorting & export functions

Our tool offers an interactive postcode area search for Germany and Austria. You can enter a postcode or a place name, select a radius, switch the country (DE/AT), sort the results (e.g. distance, postcode, city) and specify the scope of the hits displayed. You can also export the displayed results list as a file (CSV, XLSX, PDF or TXT).

  • Processed data: Search term (postcode or city), selected radius, country (DE/AT), calculated distance and the corresponding city and postcode data from our geodata sets. This data is used exclusively for the technical execution of the search, the display on the map and the creation of the results list.
  • Export functions: If you use the export functions, the currently visible results are converted directly in your browser into a file (CSV, XLSX, PDF or TXT) and saved on your end device. These export files are not transmitted to us or third parties.
  • No profiling: Your entries will not be used to create personal user profiles or merged with other data.
  • Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the provision of a practical search and planning tool for proximity searches).

8. local storage (search history)

Our tool only saves your search history for the postcode area search locally in your browser (LocalStorage). The history can be managed separately depending on the country selected (e.g. DE or AT). This data is not transferred to us or third parties.

You can delete the search history at any time using the „Delete history“ function in the search or via your browser settings (Delete website data/LocalStorage).

9. map service (OpenStreetMap)

For the map display we use OpenStreetMap (OSM) of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF), St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, UK. For technical reasons, your IP address is transmitted to OSMF. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a functional map display). The United Kingdom has an adequacy decision from the EU. Further information: OSMF Privacy Policy.

10. recipient, third country transfer

  • Hosting/Technology: STRATO AG (Germany)
  • Web analytics: Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC (EU/USA) - Transfers to the USA on the basis of EU-US data protection framework or standard contractual clauses
  • Map service: OpenStreetMap Foundation (UK)
  • Content delivery / JavaScript libraries: For individual functions (e.g. map and export libraries such as Leaflet, XLSX, jsPDF), static files are delivered via so-called content delivery networks (e.g. unpkg, jsDelivr). For technical reasons, your IP address is processed and transmitted to the respective CDN providers. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in fast and secure delivery of our website). If servers outside the EU/EEA are used, this is done on the basis of suitable guarantees in accordance with Art. 46 GDPR (e.g. standard contractual clauses) or equivalent mechanisms.

11. storage period

  • Server logs at STRATO: according to provider specifications (usually a few days to weeks).
  • Analytics data (GA4): according to current settings e.g. 14 months (aggregated; without personal profiles).
  • LocalStorage (search history): locally in your browser until you delete it (or, if necessary, through browser settings).
  • Export files (CSV/XLSX/PDF/TXT): are stored exclusively on your end device; the storage period is your responsibility.

12. your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future (via the cookie banner).

13. safety

This website uses SSL/TLS encryption (recognisable by „https://“) to transfer data securely.

14. changes

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy if new legal requirements or functions are added.
