Poland postcode radius search: key facts for dispatchers

What dispatchers should know about the Poland postcode radius search: Postcodes, main routes and tolls in Poland at a glance.

      Format

Polish postcodes (kod pocztowy) have five digits and are written with a hyphen, for example 00-950 Warszawa. The first digit stands for a large region: 0 Warsaw, 3 Kraków, 4 Katowice and Opole, 5 Wrocław, 6 Poznań, 7 Szczecin, 8 Gdańsk, 9 Łódź. Large cities have many postcodes, often one per street. The official format is displayed, but only the digits are copied. More on the structure: Postal codes in Poland on Wikipedia.

      Transport

Key routes from Germany are the A2 via Frankfurt (Oder) to Poznań and Warsaw and the A4 via Görlitz to Wrocław, Katowice and Kraków. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes pay a distance-based toll on tolled motorways, expressways and national roads via the e-TOLL system. Current rates and rules: e-TOLL.

      Workflow

Many orders use English or German place names. The search understands common names such as Warsaw, Cracow, Breslau, Danzig, Posen or Kattowitz. You do not need to type Polish special characters such as ł, ż or ś: “Lodz” finds Łódź and “Gdansk” finds Gdańsk.

3D load planning & loading metre calculation in real time

Plan your transport end to end: with our new 3D loading metre calculator, dispatchers and forwarders work out freight capacity, pallet spaces and payload in an interactive 3D simulation. Standard semi-trailer, mega trailer, jumbo drawbar combination, van or shipping container: you see straight away how many pallets fit on the truck and how much floor space is left.

Poland postcode radius search: frequently asked questions

Do I have to type the hyphen in the postcode?
No. 50-001, 50001 and 50 001 all give the same result. In the results list the postcode is shown in the official format with a hyphen.
What does the copy button copy?
Clicking a postcode copies only the five digits without the hyphen, for example 50001. That way you can paste it straight into a freight exchange or transport management system.
Why does Warsaw have so many postcodes?
In large Polish cities, individual streets or street sections often have their own postcode. Warsaw has more than 2,400 postcodes in our data. If you enter the city name, the search starts at the city’s lowest postcode; for a particular district, type the postcode directly.
Where does the data come from?
Postcodes, places and locations come from address data by © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), which in Poland was largely imported from the official address register. For each postcode and place we calculate the centre of the addresses and remove obvious typos. If a place is missing or in the wrong spot, please let us know via the contact page.
Are road kilometres and drive times available for Poland?
Not at the moment. For Poland, PLZ Profi shows the straight-line distance from the starting point. Road kilometres and estimated drive times are currently available for Germany and Austria.
Why do the markers disappear when I choose “All”?
With a 100 km radius you can easily get several hundred results. To keep the map readable and fast, “All” only shows the starting point on the map. The list and the export still contain every result.
