Privacy policy
We take the protection of your personal data seriously. Below we explain what personal data we process, to what extent and for what purpose when you visit this website and use our tools (postcode radius search, country pages, 3D loading metre calculator). “GDPR” refers to the EU General Data Protection Regulation, “TDDDG” to the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act.
In a nutshell: Searches, calculations and exports run in your browser. Coordinates are only sent to our own routing server if you ask for road distances. Google Analytics and Google AdSense are only loaded after you have given your consent.
We have not appointed a data protection officer, as there is no legal obligation to do so.
- Providing the website and IT security: server log data (IP address, date and time, page requested, referrer, browser and operating system). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in operating the website securely and reliably.
- Tools (radius search, country pages, loading metre calculator): your input is processed in your browser. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in providing practical planning tools.
- Road distances (Germany and Austria): coordinates are sent to our routing server, only when you start the calculation. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Statistics (Google Analytics): loading, cookies and analysis only with your consent. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG.
- Advertising (Google AdSense): loading, advertising cookies and ads only with your consent. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG.
- Contact by email: handling your enquiry. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
This website and our routing server are operated by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO processes the data on our behalf; we have a data processing agreement in place under Art. 28 GDPR. When you visit the website, server log data is processed automatically (see section 2). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. More information: strato.de/datenschutz (German).
On the homepage and the pages for Germany and Austria, you can have road distances calculated for the first results. Only when you click the button to calculate road distances does your browser send the coordinates of the starting point and the destinations to our routing server routing.api.plzprofi.de. Your IP address and the time of the request are processed as well. The coordinates describe the centres of places, not addresses.
The server calculates the route using OpenStreetMap data and only returns the result. We do not create user profiles. We delete the server’s access logs after 14 days at the latest. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in providing the route calculation you requested. Your browser estimates the drive time itself from the distance and an average speed.
The radius search is available for Germany, Austria and other European countries. You enter a postcode or place, choose the radius, sorting and number of results and, if you like, a compass direction. Your browser loads a dataset of postcodes and places from our server and calculates the results itself.
- Exports: your browser creates CSV, Excel, PDF and text files from the list shown and saves them on your device. The files are not sent to us or to third parties.
- Clipboard: clicking a postcode copies it to your clipboard. No data is transmitted.
- No profiling: we do not combine your input into user profiles. For statistics via Google Analytics with your consent, see section 9.
The loading metre calculator works out load space, loading metres and weight in your browser and warns you about overloading and about loads that are too long, too wide or too high. You can import load lists as text, a table or an image. Text recognition (OCR) for images and screenshots uses the Tesseract.js library and runs only on your device. Images, screenshots and recognised text are never sent to us, to STRATO or to third parties. For recognition, your browser downloads the program files and language data from a content delivery network the first time you use it (see section 12).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in convenient, data-minimising data entry.
Some features store data only in your browser (local storage). This data is not sent to us or to third parties:
- Search history: your last ten radius searches, stored per country or shared for Germany and Austria.
- Loading metre calculator: your current load list and any custom vehicle you have created, so they are still there on your next visit.
This storage is strictly necessary for the feature you have requested and is therefore permitted without consent under Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG; any further processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can delete the data with “Clear history”, by emptying the list in the loading metre calculator or in your browser settings (clear site data).
We use the consent management tool Complianz (a WordPress plugin running on our server) to obtain and record your consent to statistics and marketing cookies. Complianz stores your choice in its own cookies (starting with “cmplz_”) for up to 365 days and passes it on to other plugins via the WordPress Consent API (cookies starting with “wp_consent_”, 30 days). Without your consent, we do not load Google Analytics or Google AdSense and do not set any statistics or advertising cookies.
Legal bases: for the consent itself, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG; for storing your choice, Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (obligation to demonstrate consent). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the cookie settings linked in the footer.
This website uses Google Analytics 4 from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”), integrated via the WordPress plugin Google Site Kit. It shows us, for example, which pages are visited and which features are used.
Only after your consent: the Google tag is only loaded once you agree to the “Statistics” category in the cookie banner. Before that, it is not loaded and no data is sent to Google through it. We also use Google’s Consent Mode, which passes your choice on to Google.
With your consent, Google Analytics sets cookies (for example “_ga”, lifetime up to 13 months) and records your use with a random identifier. Only then do our tools also send events to Google Analytics, for example: a search with country, radius, postal region (the first two digits of the postcode found) and number of results, copying a postcode, an export with format and number of rows, use of the compass, history and road distance, the vehicle selected and the number of items imported in the loading metre calculator, and the questions and country guides opened in the FAQ. We do not transmit what you type, i.e. search terms, places, load lists or dimensions. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. The data is deleted after 14 months.
Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR); standard contractual clauses under Art. 46 GDPR apply in addition.
This website uses Google AdSense from Google Ireland Limited to display ads. The AdSense script is only loaded once you agree to the “Marketing” category in the cookie banner. Before that, it is not loaded, no data is sent to Google through it and no ads are shown.
Ads only with your consent (“Marketing” category in the cookie banner).
With your consent, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to select ads based on your interests and to measure clicks and impressions. This may involve processing cookie identifiers, browser and device information and your interaction with ads. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via the cookie banner. For transfers to the USA, see section 9.
The maps come from OpenStreetMap, run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF), St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom. When the map is displayed, your browser loads map tiles from the OSMF’s servers, which use a content delivery network for this purpose. For technical reasons, your IP address, browser and the map area displayed are transmitted. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in displaying a map. The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision for the United Kingdom. More information: OSMF privacy policy.
Some features use freely available software libraries that your browser loads from content delivery networks (CDNs):
- unpkg.com: the Leaflet map library.
- cdn.jsdelivr.net: Excel and PDF export (ExcelJS, jsPDF), 3D view in the loading metre calculator (three.js), image export (html2canvas) and text recognition with language data (Tesseract.js).
When these are loaded, your IP address, browser information and the time are transmitted to the respective provider for technical reasons. The providers may use servers outside the EU. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in delivering program files quickly and reliably.
If you email us, we process your email address, your name if you provide it, and the content of your message in order to answer your enquiry. Emails are received and stored by our email provider. We do not pass your details on to third parties. For the legal bases, see section 2. We delete your message once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
In the footer we link to our profiles on Instagram and Facebook. These are simple links without embedded content. Data is only transmitted when you click a link; the privacy policy of the respective network (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited) then applies.

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR), most easily via the cookie banner. For all requests, simply email kontakt@plzprofi.de.
Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR
Where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then stop processing the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Right to lodge a complaint: you can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, lda.bayern.de.
We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. You are not obliged to provide us with personal data; however, the website cannot be displayed without the technically necessary connection data.
This website and the routing server use SSL/TLS encryption (you can tell by “https://” in the address bar).
We update this privacy policy when features, services or legal requirements change. The version published here applies.
