Romania postcode radius search: key facts for dispatchers

What dispatchers should know about the Romania postcode radius search: Postcodes, counties and tolls in Romania at a glance.

      Format

Romanian postcodes (cod poștal) have had six digits since 2003. The first two digits stand for the county (județ), and in Bucharest for the sector: 01 to 06 are sectors 1 to 6. Large cities have one postcode per street or block, villages usually share one postcode per municipality. With “Top 10” you get one result per county. More on the structure: Postal codes in Romania on Wikipedia.

      Transport

From the west, the A1 runs via Nădlac, Arad and Timișoara towards Deva and Sibiu, and the largest port on the Black Sea is Constanța. Since October 2026, vehicles over 3.5 tonnes pay the distance-based TollRo toll, which replaces the previous vignette (rovinietă) for trucks. Current rates and rules: UNTRR on TollRo (Romanian).

      Workflow

In Transylvania and the Banat, many orders use German place names. The search understands names such as Hermannstadt, Kronstadt, Klausenburg, Temeswar and Schäßburg, and Bucharest in English. You do not need to type special characters such as ș, ț or ă: “Timisoara” finds Timișoara.

3D load planning & loading metre calculation in real time

Plan your transport end to end: with our new 3D loading metre calculator, dispatchers and forwarders work out freight capacity, pallet spaces and payload in an interactive 3D simulation. Standard semi-trailer, mega trailer, jumbo drawbar combination, van or shipping container: you see straight away how many pallets fit on the truck and how much floor space is left.

Romania postcode radius search: frequently asked questions

Why does Bucharest have so many postcodes?
In large Romanian cities, every street or block often has its own postcode, and Bucharest has almost 7,000 in our data. If you enter the city name, the search starts at the city’s lowest postcode. For a particular district, type the postcode directly.
What does the copy button copy?
Clicking a postcode copies only the six digits, for example 550000, without spaces. That way you can paste it straight into a freight exchange or transport management system.
Why do villages often share the same postcode?
In rural municipalities, villages often share the municipality’s postcode. PLZ Profi still shows every village at its own location so that the distance is correct.
Where does the data come from?
Postcodes, places and locations come from © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL): villages and towns with their postcode, and addresses in the cities. We remove obvious typos. Data coverage in Romania is less complete than in Germany; if a place is missing or in the wrong spot, please let us know via the contact page.
Are road kilometres and drive times available for Romania?
Not at the moment. For Romania, PLZ Profi shows the straight-line distance from the starting point. Road kilometres and estimated drive times are currently available for Germany and Austria.
Why do the markers disappear when I choose “All”?
With a 100 km radius you can easily get several hundred results. To keep the map readable and fast, “All” only shows the starting point on the map. The list and the export still contain every result.
